Horrific Headaches

Headaches...annoying, unbearable, and often debilitating parts of life. There are many causes, and since I'm not a doctor or health professional, I obviously can't expound on the medical causes. What we can discuss, however, is how we can make ourselves and others around us feel better and live better. There are many medications nowadays that can do away with the pain, and I find them useful in small doses. But what about those headaches that don't respond to pain relievers?

What are some ways that soothe your headache consistently and healthily? Please share!

I'm really looking forward to hearing ideas! Here are a few of my favorites:

Water- over time, rehydration works to conquer headaches.
Food- if yours is hunger inflicted, a snack or meal often does wonders
Exercise- sometimes, taking a walk can really help you feel better. I suspect this is because exercise stretches the muscles and increases your oxygen intake. Also, the mere act of turning your eyes from close proximity inside to the spacious outdoors gives them the chance to rest, and as a result, can do away with eyestrain-inflicted headaches. And finally, walking or swimming loosens up your neck and shoulder muscles which, when tight, do cause headaches.
Cooler temperatures- when I have a headache, warm and stuffy quarters tend to make it worse. Head for airy, cool digs and try to rest...which leads us to:
Resting! plain and simple, sometimes your head is just tired. Stress and the cares of life take a toll on our thinking caps, more than we might think.Take some time to lay in a quiet, cool spot and close your eyes, making an effort to lay aside the plans, worries, and stresses of the day. Spend a few minutes in fellowship with God, letting His peace fall over you. Many times a cool washcloth on your forehead, or rubbing your fingers gently over your scalp will alleviate the pain.

These are a few of the things I try when suffering from headaches. I'm looking forward to hearing yours and hope that your head is feeling better than mine. : )

As always, try to use God's eyes to look at the problems that come your way. His insight is infinitely better than ours ever will be. So long till next time!
